They really do sting!

Wow, people weren't kidding when they named this obnoxious plant the 'stinging nettle'. I've touched the variety of nettles we have in Washington and they mostly just itch a bit. But when the back of my hand lightly brushed one of these European varieties as Emily and I walked to the Munich office, it felt like I'd dragged my hand across sharp barbed wire! It felt like the darn thing bit me!

The stinging lasted about ten minutes and then it looked and itched like poison ivy for another half hour and was fine after that.

Beware the stinging nettles!
